My Scheduling Philosophy: Music lessons don't have seasons or semesters like other activities available to today's students. Yet, without breaks, even the best of students is bound to face burnout. I'd rather have a fresh approach after scheduled downtime than expect students to sustain an unrealistic level of energy over a long period of time. I have built in some natural breaks throughout the calendar year:

• The week of Thanksgiving
• The weeks of Christmas and New Year's
• Spring Break (Blue Valley Schools)
• The last partial week of school in May
• The first partial week of school in August

Holidays such as Memorial Day, Labor Day, July 4th, Presidents' Day and MLK Jr Day will be cancelled or made up later in the week. Blue Valley Schools Work Days and Parent Teacher Conference Days can either be cancelled, made-up or held as normal depending on the urgency of preparations for upcoming events.
